The Roots leave out Patrick Stump collaboration from Rising Down

A few months back, I’ve reported the presumed collaborations for The Roots soon to be released album "Rising Down". Within that time, Questlove went on the record explaining that the Fall Out Boy-frontman Patrick Stump collaboration song "Birthday Girl" was let go off the album. The reason was essentially due to the formula of the album which will supposedly have a darker, slower start and the finish on the rise, hence the title.

I could see why such a decision has been made and I can say that I gladly agree with it. I’ve had the chance to listen to the song and let’s just say that it would have been a skipper in my case. Although the track was left out of the final album (due out next tuesday April 29th, see tracklisting below), a video directed by Rik Cordero has been recorded so you’ll be able to judge for yourself. The track is also available through the iTunes store.
