I recently came across news about a movie documenting the Chess Records label that bolted rock and r&b acts into fame back in the 50’s. The movie title "Cadillac Records" is driven from the way founder Leonard Chess went around Mississippi selling records through the back of his Cadillac. The Storyline will focus on Chess and the rise and fall of Chess Records and will also feature characters representing the label’s musicians.
Amongst those, Mos Def will interpretate one of rock ‘n roll’s pioneers, Chuck Berry. Leonard Chess will be played by Academy Award winner Adrian Brody while Beyonce will be portraying the great Etta James and Jeffrey Wright will become Muddy Waters.
The movie should be released by the end of the year.
