Dethklok’s Gorillaz-style show will feature a set-long animated projection of the virtual band performing while the actual live band (including legendary drummer Gene Hoglan of Death, Dark Angel, and Strapping Young Lad as well as Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small) plays behind. Guitar Hero III demos will be available for attendees.
Dethklok’s Dethalbum, already the highest charting Death Metal album in history, has reached new heights in its fourth week topping the 70,000 mark in sales. This number is staggering, especially for a death metal band. It’s far higher even than most ‘buzz’ bands, which can no doubt be attributed to Adult Swim and Metalocalypse’s widespread popularity– by succesfully straddling the line between paying tribute to heavy metal and making fun of it, Brendon Small’s Metalocalypse appeals to a large audience.
