Stranger Than Fiction Week #15

~ by BlackMage

If only I could make a good STF graphic for you look at.  Trust me, I tried.  I also would love to have a clip of "Stranger Than Fiction" playing when you open the page, but I don't even want to fathom the code behind that.

AHA!  I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

I'd like to point out that I've caught another website stealing news from The PRP!  So it's not just us!  And by us I mean me.

BULLSHIT THEY PASS OFF AS NEWS

  • There's a big stink going on regarding whether or not Ashlee Simpson is preggers.
  • Noel Gallagher is angry [again] over Jay-Z headling Glastonbury.
  • Velvet Revolver refuses to die, takes search for next singer to the Internet
  • Beyonce publicly wigged out over Jay-Z telling someone to cut her song off at a club.

HANG IT UP ALREADY

Duran Duran is putting out a new album this year and will tour as well.  I've had some miserable music experiences with Duran Duran in the past, so they can go take a leap.

FEEL GOOD HIT OF THE SUMMER

Amy Winehouse.  Drugs.  You know the score.

GOOD THING STING ISN'T DIMEBAG

From TMZ.com:

According to a police report filed by Roy Smith, Sting heard him singing at Molly's Garden Restaurant back in 1977 or 78 (beleave it or not, Smith can't quite remember), thought he was good, and asked him to hang out.

They stopped at a 7-Eleven for beer(?) and hung out for hours in Sting's basement. During that time, Smith told Sting about an ex-girlfriend of his named Roxanne, who was a prostitute. Smith also explained how after his father died, he wrote his mom messages, which he put in a bottle. Just like in the song!

You guessed it - Smith claims Sting agreed to give him royalties for the songs, but never did. Even more intertaining, Smith claims Sting tried to contact him through his mom, but she didn't pass along the messages because she thought the real police were after her son...

Smith has contacted Sting's lawyers, who deny all the allegations. He also filed a report with the Reno P.D. last month. According to the police, "Initial review of the report indicates that the statute of limitations of any potential crime in this matter has expired. The alleged victim may have to pursue the matter through civil litigation."

I wonder how you'd prove that?  "Yes your honor, I have a pinky/fist handshake with Sting stating that I will get royalties for these songs I had no part in making.  Gimmie money!"

REMEMBER THIS GUY?

I don't need to credit the source of the photos because they're right freaking there.

That's Fred Fucking Durst!  Does anyone else remember Limp Bizkit?  I know, it hurts my head too.

This week, I leave you with this.

Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction

a febrile shocking violent smack
the children are hoping for a heart attack
tonight the windows are watching
the streets all conspire
and the lamppost can't stop crying,
if I could fly high above the world
would I see a bunch of living dots spell the world stupidity?
or would I see hungry lover homicides
loving brother suicides
and olly olly oxenfrees
who pickaside and hide

the world is scratching at my door
my morning papers got the scores
the human interest stories, and the obituary

cockroach naps, rattling traps
how many devils can you fit upon a match head?
caringosity killed the Kerouac cat
sometimes truth is stranger than fiction

in my alley around the corner
there's a wino with feathered shoulders
and a spirit giving head for crack and he'll never want it back
there's a little kid and his family eating crackers like thanksgiving
and a pack of wild desperados scornful of living

the world is scratching at my door
my morning papers got the scores
the human interest stories, and the obituary

cradle for a cat, Wolfe looks back
how many angels can you fit upon a match?
I want to know why Hemingway cracked
sometimes truth is stranger than fiction

life is the crummiest book I ever read
there isn't a hook, just a lot of cheap shots
pictures to shock and characters an amateur would never dream up

sometimes truth is stranger than fiction
