The YMD

Both Philly natives, the two members of the YMD met as they traveled the east coast hardcore scene in the late nineties.  They recorded three songs together, the first examples of their brand new blended genre, but never expected to play a live or record anything more serious.  In the fall of 2004 a few tracks by the duo on MySpace caught the attention of a Philly club promoter and she booked their first show.

The first proper EP from the YMD, Plays Ugly for Suckers, has now sold out of its second pressing and their limited edition 12" single "Yah Mos Def is a Gang," with artwork by Evil Design, was released in September of 2006.  After hearing the group’s self-released efforts, WPRB DJ Jon Solomon invited the YMD to play a live in-studio on his show, and soon decided to release their full-length album on his label, My Pal God Records.

The YMD has shared bills with everyone from Matt & Kim to Flosstradomus and Pissed Jeans to Plastic Little.

Philadelphia's MC duo The YMD see their debut full-length set for release on February 12th, 2008 through My Pal God Records (Southern).

The band has sent in the fourth track of the debut, a song called "New Direction".
