The Music Tank

I went to Club Lambi this past Friday to see Random Recipe who were throwing a Xmas party before the end of the year. The venue was all decorated with a fancy buffet of jello and rice krispies in the back and even sexy Santa and his wife were invited to take christmas pictures with anyone at the end of the show.

Now on to the important part, the show! I’ve known Frannie and Fab for a few years now and as soon as I heard they started a band, like many of our friends, we all ran to several venues to support them. The only difference with Random Recipe is that they didn’t need any support as they amaze everyone.

Random Recipe is a fresh breath to Montreal and a perfect description of what this city is all about. The music is so random, with different languages and instruments while the band is so into it and having a great time together that you are not watching a show but living it.

The performance given by the band that night was one of the best I’ve seen during the past year. Frannie’s voice is amazing and has reached a new level of sweetness and Fab really found her rap signature to deliver strong lines in Random Recipe’s style. Vincent and Liu-Kong complete the duo with great musical skills and energy.

All in all, amazing night and they sure knew how to please the crowd. Good job!

I also must mention Dj A-Rock, one of Peer Pressure’s djs. He covered the music for the night and his old school musical choices were clever and made me miss awesome dance parties thrown by PP at their debut.
